Julie Cohn is an artist, designer, and developer of products and designs for the corporate and home interiors markets. She is a founding partner in the multidisciplinary product firm, Two Women Boxing, and the surface design firm, Julie Cohn Design. Two Women Boxing began in 1983 with the goal of preserving fine bookbinding and box-making crafts. With a small group of artisans, Cohn's firm also produced a wholesale line of handmade photo albums, frames, and unique boxes. Formed in 1998, Julie Cohn Design focused on surface design for china and glass, carpets, rugs, wallcovering, and other home accessories. Her fresh approach to pattern and surface design led to rug design for Neiman Marcus Store Planning, and area rugs for Tufenkian Tibetan Carpets. A collection of handwoven rugs was introduced by Surya in 2007 under her own name. Hospitality design firms enlist her talents for large hotel projects for Ritz, Hyatt, Hilton and others. The implementation of Cohn’s designs for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit station was completed in 2009, in addition to new contract wallcovering designs for LSI. Julie earned a BFA at Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA in painting and printmaking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
